Join a dedicated team in a state-of-the-art hospital setting as a Surgical Physician Assistant specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery. This locum tenens opportunity involves collaborating with a team of four surgeons and four physician assistants, primarily working in the OR and ICU with some patient care in the stepdown unit. The role requires flexibility to cover a rotating call schedule with periods of dedicated call coverage.

Job Responsibilities
- Conduct morning rounds, including writing daily progress notes
- Manage medications, and order appropriate labs and studies as needed
- Perform history and physicals, consultations, discharges, and discharge summaries
- Manage chest tubes, attending multidisciplinary rounds when on call
- Provide first assistance in surgeries and harvest endoscopic vein and radial arteries
- Prepare conduits, place appropriate postoperative orders, and close sternotomies as per surgeon preference
- Participate in weekday and weekend call duties, finish late cases, and respond to emergency cases
Qualifications
- Board Certification required, or Board Eligible
- BLS certification required
- Trauma Level 3 experience preferred
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery preferred
Working Hours
- 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM with on-call duties from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Weekend on-call from Friday 5:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM
- Call rotation: every third day during the week; every fourth weekend
Skills
- Proficient with robotic surgery including lobectomy and thymectomy using the DaVinci Xi Robot
- Experience in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Valve Repair/Replacement
- Skilled in Thoracotomy, VATS procedures, and ECMO
- Capable of endoscopic vein and radial harvesting using the Maquet System (Hemopro 2 Vasoview)
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills
