Specialty: Pediatric Cardiology – PCCU

Contract Length: 3 months ongoing

Work Details:

• Staffing Ratio:
• Day Shift: 6 patients per provider

• Night Shift: 15 patients per provider

• Hospital Bed Size: 32-bed inpatient unit

• Patient Population/Age: The unit serves patients from two specialized cardiology service lines:

• General Cardiology
  • Includes pre- and post-operative patients
  • Management of congenital and acquired cardiac conditions

• PACC (Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Care) focused on Heart Failure and Heart Transplant

  • Includes transplant candidates and post-transplant care
  • Complex medical management of advanced heart failure patients

• Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) on the ACCU provide care across both service lines, requiring advanced clinical expertise.

• Department Description: The unit operates under a collaborative coverage model that includes both APPs and residents, ensuring continuous and comprehensive patient care.

• EMR: TBD

• Acuity Highlights: Patients often present with complex needs, including:

• Stable VADs (Ventricular Assist Devices)
• Trach/ventilator dependence
• Inotropic infusions: Milrinone and Dopamine
• Chest tubes (including management and removal)
• External pacing wires (AAI mode only)
• Stable peritoneal dialysis
