This position focuses on non-invasive cardiology rather than interventional procedures. Preferred candidates will have the ability to perform transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs), interpret echocardiograms, handle nuclear medicine, and conduct stress tests. The role includes being involved in admissions specifically for STEMI with an interventional backup always on call.
The practice comprises two electrophysiologists, ten advanced practice providers (APPs), five interventionalists, and six non-invasive cardiologists. Responsibilities may include rounding and being on call at any of three locations: Ortenzio Heart Center, Holy Spirit Main, or Hampden.
Duties include:
- Outpatient and inpatient cardiology services
- Non-invasive procedures such as echocardiography and TEE
- Nuclear cardiology (e.g., Cardiolyte, thallium)
- Admission and care for STEMI cases
Other skills and requirements include:
- Invasive cardiology diagnostics, including PA catheter placement, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) placement, cardiac catheterization, and heart biopsy
- Interventional cardiology procedures, such as angioplasty (PTCA), intracoronary stent placement, and atherectomy
- Electrophysiology tasks, including cardiac ablation, permanent pacemaker placement, and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (AICD/ICD) placement
The nearest airport is Harrisburg International. Physicians must be board certified, and while interstate medical licensure compact (IMLC) is not supported, the estimated credentialing timeframe is 60 to 120 days. Required certification includes Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
This facility is a Level 2 trauma center with no specific pediatric level designation.
