Summary:

A healthcare facility is seeking a Family Medicine OB professional for temporary coverage. The role involves providing care for both obstetrics and gynecology patients, including new visits and surgical consultations. Surgical responsibilities include handling non-emergent surgeries twice a week. The provider will also manage emergency obstetrics and gynecology cases in 24-hour call shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Key Details:

  • Work Environment: Combination of clinic and inpatient call.
  • Support Staff Includes: Lab Tech, LPN/LVN, MA, X-ray Tech, RN. Collaboration with CRNAs and midwives is expected.
  • Electronic Medical Record System: EPIC
  • Required Experience: Proficiency in performing all OB/GYN procedures, including a minimum of five cesarean sections and five hysterectomies in the past 24 months. The candidate should have experience managing at least 50 deliveries and 100 cesarean sections.
  • Facility Support: Includes a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) staffed with a neonatal nurse practitioner and tele-neonatologist support, as well as access to skilled general surgeons, urologists, critical care physicians, and cardiologists.

Schedule/Availability Requirements:

Providers will work in stretches of at least seven days per month.

Credentialing:

  • Timeframe: 60 days from state license issue.
  • Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Active DEA license, and either Board Certification in Family Medicine OB or verifiably Board Eligible.

Submission Requirements:

  • Providers must submit logs displaying all relevant procedures performed over the past 24 months, ensuring at least 20 vaginal and cesarean deliveries were conducted in the last 12.
  • A presentation checklist must be included upon submission.

Travel Preferences:

Accommodations should be within 15 minutes of the hospital. Air travel is acceptable as needed.

Other Information:

The facility typically handles approximately 50 births annually and operates a level 2 NICU. There is backup for complicated cesarean sections available from an OB/GYN.

Candidates must possess a clean malpractice record, and submitting the required documentation upfront is crucial for consideration. The job requires engaging in both clinical and surgical duties with no option for clinic-only candidates.

Preferred Qualifications:

An active Kansas license is highly preferred, but the facility is open to candidates willing to obtain one. Additionally, candidates must complete required EMR training modules prior to virtual training sessions.
