Bon Secours Lourdes Hospital seeks to expand their General Surgeon locum coverage pool. The general surgeon on call will handle any call from the ED or any hospital general surgery consults. This position primarily involves hospital-based duties and may include minimal after-hours call support for the clinic. The surgeon may also be involved with the care of ICU patients. The role includes a 24-hour shift schedule for EMTALA call coverage (7 am – 7 am).
Coverage Details:
– Frequency: 1 week/month
– Surgical Cases: Average of 1-3 surgical cases per day for the on-call surgeon and 2-4 consults per day
– EMR System: EPIC
– Operating Rooms: 12
– General Surgeons in Practice: 3
– OR Staff: Includes CSTs, RNFAs, and First Assists. The OR staff is well-rounded and seasoned.
– Patient Age Range: Pediatric to Geriatric. Pediatric cases typically involve appendectomies, skin, and soft tissue, at the physician's discretion.
– Available Technology: Robotics for certified practitioners

– Central Line Insertion

– Vascular Access Devices
– Cholecystectomy
– Hernioplasty
– Colon/Small Bowel procedures
Credentialing:
– Timeframe: 120 days to onboard
– Certification: Board Certified (ABoS) – REQUIRED
– License: Active KY license – REQUIRED (must be currently active)
– COVID Vaccination: Preferred; required by time of credentialing
– Background: Clean background is preferred
