A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is needed on a locum tenens basis at a leading healthcare facility in Syracuse, New York. This role requires expertise in delivering anesthesia for various surgical cases including general surgery, GYN, bariatrics, orthopedics with blocks, neuro/heads, and pediatrics. You will work under a supervision model in Multiple Operating Rooms (MOR) and surgery centers. The position offers flexible shift schedules with 8, 10, or 12-hour options, with a preference for 8-hour shifts.

  • Schedule: Option for 5 x 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), 4 x 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), or 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Patient Population: All Ages
  • Location: Syracuse, NY
  • Stipends: Car rental/mileage stipend of $400/weekly and lodging/housing stipend of $165/day available for non-local candidates

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anesthesia assessments and obtain patient consent
  • Discuss anesthetic options and risks with patients
  • Manage induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
  • Monitor patients' physiological conditions
  • Perform clinical interventions as needed

Qualifications

  • Current license as a registered professional nurse
  • Graduated from an accredited program of nurse anesthesia education
  • Certified or recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists

Working Hours

  • Shifts available Monday to Friday, with start times at 7:00 AM
  • No overtime required
  • On-call duties for in-house OB care preferred

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of anesthetic techniques for a variety of surgical cases
  • Ability to work effectively in a supervised environment
  • Proficiency in paper charting and computer-based pre and post-op orders
  • Strong communication and patient assessment skills
