Join a prestigious academic hospital in a vital role supporting cardiac surgery through locum tenens coverage. As a key part of the surgical team, you will provide operating room first assist coverage alongside experienced cardiac surgeons and an intensivist. The schedule includes varied shifts, call coverage, and ongoing clinic support, allowing for flexibility and a dynamic work environment.

  • Schedule: Regular Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM; Weeknight Call: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (1 night per week); Weekend Call: Rotating 6:00 AM – 6:00 AM

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide first assist coverage in cardiac surgery procedures such as CABG, valve repair/replacement, and ascending aortic surgeries.
  • Assist with complex procedures including mechanical circulatory support and endoscopic vein harvesting.
  • Handle sternotomy opening and closure, along with the placement of chest tubes and temporary pacing wires.
  • Participate in rotating calls and support clinic operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Board Certification Required
  • Valid MO state license
  • BLS certification required; RNFA preferred for NPs
  • Minimum of 2 years of independent adult cardiac surgery OR first assist experience
  • Experience with Epic EMR/charting software beneficial

Working Hours

  • Regular shifts with options for night and weekend call coverage
  • Call duty includes one night per week and rotating weekend shifts
