A certified registered nurse anesthetist role is available in a large, academic hospital setting in Hershey, PA. This locum tenens position involves providing anesthesia care for a variety of surgical cases, including general, orthopedics, trauma, plastics, neurosurgery, and pediatrics (ages 5 and up). The role requires expertise in multiple anesthesia techniques and invasive monitoring. The schedule consists of full-time, weekday shifts with no weekend responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, prepare, and manage patients for anesthesia care
  • Develop and implement anesthetic plans
  • Perform history and physical examinations
  • Obtain informed consent and perform pre-anesthetic and post-operative evaluations
  • Administer general, spinal, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
  • Perform invasive monitoring and placement of lines, such as CVP/CVC
  • Manage airways effectively
  • Ensure seamless patient hand-off as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in anesthesia care, preferably in a similar setting
  • Must have certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Board certification required

Working Hours

  • 10-hour shifts Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Thursday shift from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • No weekend or on-call requirements

Skills

  • Proficient in general and spinal anesthesia techniques
  • Skilled in pediatric and trauma cases
  • Knowledgeable in invasive monitoring, including central and arterial line placement
  • Ability to manage acute volume/BP issues and ventilation management
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills
