Job Responsibilities
– Prepare and dispense medication orders per physician request.
– Maintain medication stock in patient care areas, ensuring cost-effective medication therapies.
– Transcribe medication orders and maintain computerized patient medication profiles.
– Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, including IV admixture preparations, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
– Issue controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain records as required by law.
– Monitor therapy regimens for contraindications and appropriateness of drug and dose.
– Participate in the quality improvement and medication review activities of the department.
Qualifications
– Active Colorado PHA License in good standing.
– Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree.
– Must have EPIC experience; Meditech training is a plus.
– BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
– Flu vaccine required (Oct 1 – Apr 1) with no exemptions accepted.
Working Hours
– Rotating shifts of 40 hours per week, starting at 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM on weekdays with rotating weekends working 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
Skills
– Strong knowledge of interpreting medication orders and maintaining accurate drug records.
– Proficient in compounding and dispensing various pharmaceuticals.
– Excellent ability to detect and report adverse drug reactions and allergies.
– Skillful in providing clinical consultation and patient drug information.
