This is an exciting opportunity for a Surgical Physician Assistant specializing in cardiothoracic surgery available in a renowned inpatient facility. The role includes assisting in pre and post-operative patient evaluations and treatments, especially focusing on coronary artery bypass and all valve surgeries. The schedule highlights include varying hours primarily from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM with more extended coverage during on-call days, entailing 10-12+ work hours. Candidates can anticipate a varied and dynamic work environment while carrying out essential surgical responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre and post-operative patient evaluation and treatment
  • Serve as OR First Assist in surgeries
  • Conduct daily rounds and manage ICU step-downs
  • Perform emergent procedures such as chest tube and arterial line insertions
  • Work collaborative along with existing staff to manage daily surgical caseloads and responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Board Certification required
  • Must hold or be eligible for a WA state license, IMLC considered
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in CV/CT surgery
  • Certifications required include ACLS, BLS, DEA
  • Must present a Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of submission

Working Hours

  • Predominantly 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM; fluctuating with on-call rotations
  • Must participate in calls every 6th night and every 6th weekend

Skills

  • Strong familiarity with robotic-assisted thoracic surgeries
  • Proficient in utilizing EMR systems like EPIC
  • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration capabilities
  • Solid problem-solving skills for emergent situations
