– Inpatient; Ambulatory Surgery Center
Scope of Work:
– Administer anesthesia including endotracheal tubes, respirators, arterial central, and peripheral venous lines
– Monitor, maintain, and interpret data and waveforms
– Monitor vital signs
Case Mix:
– General Surgery, Spine, Thoracic, Robotic, Neuro, Endoscopy, Orthopedic, Vascular, Obstetric
– No Pediatrics
Facility Details:
– 12 Operating Rooms, 5 surgery centers, 4 Gastrointestinal
Trauma Level:
– Close to level II or III
Coverage Needs:
– MD to CRNA coverage ratio: 1/3 or 1/4
– Cases are based on competency, including spinal, epidural, and occasional regional blocks. No cardiac surgery for CRNAs as there is a designated cardiac team on staff.
– Specialties performed: ENDO, ORTHO, Vascular, OB, Neuro, General Surgery, Spine
– Does not perform transplant cases
– Level 3 trauma cases
Rotation and Coverage:
– Main OR and surgery centers based on assignment
– Surgery centers perform sports medicine, gynecology, urology, ophthalmology
Anesthesia Model:
– Care team approach
Licenses, Certifications, Requirements:
– Active Connecticut state license
– Board Certification
– Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS)
